Female Dragon

Yep, she's a girl. A healthy, tall and skinny girl, according to the ultra sound measurements. We are very excited.

Tricia was 100% convinced that it was a girl, which made me 99% convinced that it was a boy. You see, I'm still working on accepting that my wife is always right. I'll catch on sooner or later.

Liam remains oblivious about his future big brotherhood. It was interesting yesterday. He was laughing as he watched me play with my 2 month old nephew. He's really just starting to understand what a baby is, and so far he thinks they're silly.

Public Service Announcement: I'd like to remind everyone that Tricia has a strong opinion about little girls and pink. Her stance is that pink is a perfectly fine color when accompanied by a variety of other colors. My stance is that my wife is always right. (See... I'm getting it).

Outside... Yeah!

As you can see from the video, Liam loves it outside. We've had a break from the heat, so we've returned to a routine of morning walks with our dog, Lady. Earlier this week, Liam walked the entire path by himself (without being held... not totally by himself... ((didn't want to worry the grand-folks)) and in sandals (he never wears shoes, so that's a big thing). This morning we ditched Lady for a while and chased the chickens and turkeys. Liam loved that. Lady was jealous.

Tricia said she's starting to feel less 1st trimestery now. Dragon has kept her quite nauseous so far. She says she's feeling Dragon kicks already, so the reality of a 2nd baby is definitely kicking in for us (punny, I know).

Liam is starting to get the concept of babies in books and on TV, but I don't think he'll understand that Mommy's growing a baby in her tummy. That might freak him out. I guess, we probably shouldn't refer to "Dragon" with him, either, that could REALLY freak him out.

Dragon on the way

Yep... we're having another baby. Dragon will be due at the end of January. Tricia has her first real doc appointment tomorrow. She's been pretty nauseous so far, and now that we're entering the 2nd trimester, she's hoping she'll feel less sick and more energetic.

What's up with "Dragon"?
Well, toward the end of the Liam pregnancy (formerly known as Ninja), I pitched the name Dragon for the next one. Tricia-- displaying why she's the reigning Miss Awesome Mommy and Wifey-- embraced the idea whole heartedly. Of course, she'd have been even more Miss Awesome if she had agreed to "Liam Ninja Waguespack"... but whatever. This time I think she's going to have a hard time refusing Dragon as the middle name. I mean, "NewBaby Dragon Waguespack"! Perfect... right? (I bet Liam will vote for it).

1 Year

Happy 1st birthday to Liam!

Liam's 1st Steps

Liam took his first steps last night!
Then, he reenacted it for the camera.
Mommy says it was the perfect gift for Mother's Day.

A CHATHAM BABY

We just bought a copy of the recently published, and very fantastic, picture book "THE RIDE: THE LEGEND OF BETSY DOWDY". The author, Kitty Griffin, is one of our friends and fellow alumni from Chatham University. She's received some great praise for THE RIDE already, including a starred review in Publisher's Weekly. Since she worked on this book in one of our classes, we are extra proud to share it with Liam.Yay, Kitty! (More from Kitty)

Also, a big thanks to Kitty for the styling Chatham onesie. Tricia and I met in the orientation line on the Chatham University campus. Our professor, Kathy Ayres, tells us she saw sparks flying the very first day of class. We think that automatically makes Liam a lifetime fan of Chatham just like his mommy and daddy.

(I must say, I think Liam did an amazing job during his first modeling gig, even if it did take place on the couch in our living room. :) )

SOMETIMES I'M CUTE

In case you were wondering, 7 weeks later, I'm still quite cute.

Sometimes I'm cute when I smile.
-
 Sometimes after my bath.
-
Sometimes when I pout.
 -
Sometimes when I cry...

(...which is so tiring.)

Sometimes I'm cute when I'm sleeping.

Sometimes my cheeks make me cute
(btw, my cheeks also make great pillows).

Sometimes I'm so cute I just have to hug myself.

And sometimes... I'm just plain cute.
